Roger has delivered in-company versions of these courses to a number of NHS groups in the East Midlands and Northern Ireland. In connection
with various consultancy assignments (click on the
'CONSULTANCY EXPERIENCE' tab above), Roger has also designed and delivered tailor-made
courses based on the Benefits Assurance practice.
Roger and his colleague Andrew Davies continued to develop the Benefits Assurance
method after they left Cranfied. The latest version of this thinking is described in our
RESOURCE CENTRE.
In addition to the courses
based on the “Benefits from IT-enabled Change” workstream, Roger also directed the "IT Directors' Forum" and the executive programme
"Transforming the IT Function". He also supported Professor John Ward on his "Developing IS Strategies" programme.
Lecturer in Information Systems
During his time as a Lecturer at the Cranfield School of Management (1996 - 2003), Roger participated in, and eventually led, the
Cranfield Information Systems Research Centre’s (ISRC) research stream: “Benefits from IT-enabled Change”.
During a five-year programme
of practical, action research, he developed frameworks and workshop techniques for the identification and realisation planning of
business benefits from e-change. The recognition that the planning and implementation of e-change is fundamental to benefits realisation
is central to these methods, which have been proven in practice through many action research and consultancy projects.
The final phase
of this research (“Benefits Assurance”) focused on how to plan for benefits delivery and how to maintain a benefits focus through
the delivery phase of e-change projects.
Roger was the lead author of three research reports (see '
PUBLICATIONS' tab) published by
the Cranfield ISRC which describe the results of this research stream.
The methods developed in this research programme were translated
into the following three Cranfield courses, which Roger directed:
- Getting Business Benefits from Information Systems (MBA elective)
- Managing Information Systems Projects
- Leading IT-enabled Change
